Keiko Mita
Keiko Mita was born on tiny Rebun Island off the northernmost tip of Japan. Set in a crystal blue sea and ablaze with alpine flora in summer, the often stormy and isolated island has been a powerful influence on her work. While studying fine arts at Hokkaido University in Sapporo, Ms Mita discovered metal craft. She was fascinated by the idea of transforming cold hard metal into infinite forms, and in 1988 traveled to North America to study mixed-media sculpture at The Emily Carr School of Design in Vancouver. Afterwards she attended the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City and earned a fine arts degree with a major in Jewelry Design

Summary: Ms. Mita initially produced large embossed works, but eventually turned her interest toward sculpture, objects of art, and jewelry. While working with major jewelry manufacturers in the United States and Japan, she learned to appreciate new techniques and styles but remained true to her vision. In 1995, Ms. Mita’s first collections were produced for the Japanese market by a high-end jewelry company specializing in 18K gold, platinum, diamonds and precious stones. In 2002, she moved to New York City to pursue her dream and founded K.Mita Design. Ms. Mita creates lasting modern designs through themes based on her love for nature and multi-cultural heritage. Working primarily in 18K gold, she combines metal textures and complex shapes with diamonds, pearls, and other precious and semi-precious stones. Her pieces range from geometric to organic, but they are united by their clean lines and minimalist forms. Ms. Mita is also known for her use of color and the ability to create contrasts with gemstones, oxidized silver, and various other materials.

Moire Collection Moire Collection
Moiré is the pattern that occurs naturally between interfacing grids. The collection explores positive and negative space and the designs created by simple clean lines and overlapping patterns. The contrast between dark oxidized silver and light yellow gold, often mixed with diamonds, adds another dimension and enhances the effect

Sand Dune Collection Sand Dune Collection
The texture and landscape of deserts and sandy beaches are depicted in geometric forms in this collection. The pieces are carved in wax and finished by brushing on texture and burnishing the highest parts to add more dimension. Diamonds are often scattered on the surface to depict water or stars.
Washi Collection Washi Collection
This collection replicates the warm texture of traditional Japanese paper. The texture is prepared in wax and finished with a tool bar. It looks like a forged technique, but in fact is deeper and shinier. The contrast between textured and clean metal, often highlighted with gemstones and pearls, gives the collection its unique characteristics
