It was found out by the American Pet Products Manufacturers Association that U.S. residents will spend an estimated 31 billion dollars on pet products including food, vet care, accessories, toys and jewelry. Pet Supplies "Plus" found that in US 97% of its customers will buy gifts for their pets this Yuletide season.
28% will spend more on their pets than their spouses.
47% will spend more on their pets than their relatives.
54% will spend more on their pets than their in-laws.
71% will buy something practical for their pet.
83% will wrap their pet's gift.
68% claims that their pets will un-wrap their gifts with their paws.

With 43.5 American households claiming 'a canine relative', dollars spent on their pets is at its peak. Moreover in this quick changing world where human relationships are getting weaker, the closeness between animals and humans are harking back to old times with ' man, his dog and his pipe' content to bask in the warmth of the fire place both enjoying the quietness of the hearth. Nuclear families, single spouse families or just single has led a steep rise in dog ownership. Dog Lovers are consumed with keeping their dogs happy and healthy. They lavish all available attention on this undemanding relative and make sure they are smartly accessorized, physically fit and properly groomed. It has been observed that they think more about their dog's well being than their own. Items that were once considered extravagant are now essential. Be it designer clothes, beds or jewelry owners do not hesitate to buy expensive designer items for their pets.

Girls wore charms carrying their lover's lock or photograph. Some wore it to recover from an illness.
