dog tagsDog Tags Buying Tips

1. Tags which hang from the collar carrying all the identity details should be easily visible.

2. Many types of tags are available. Metal ones are sturdy and long lasting.

3. Plastic ones are light and useful for dogs that are in pain or physically challenged and pups.

4. The tag should not hang too low. It might get caught in the slats of a deck or in the ducts or cooling or heating vents or a branch or any other crevice.

5. Keep pets safe from swallowing incidents by making sure that the tags are not distracting or troubling the dog.

6. Personalize your dog tags for easy identification. Check the writing/etching. They should be clear and easy to read.

7. The tags should not get hidden under the fur or long hair of your pet. Id purses are suitable for female dogs.

8. 'S' hooks are better to hang the tags. They do not come out easily and get lost.

9. Some pet owners prefer E-Tags as they can be easily programmed and a whole lot of information stored. This not only avoids the clanging of multiple tags but also helps feed in new information when needed.

10. Fix silencers around the tags to stop clanging.

11. Keep the tags clean by using a moist rag. Polish the metal tags by rubbing gently in an upwards movement and not in a circular movement.

12. Make sure your pet does not end up chewing the tag and disfiguring it. Many pets chew and even swallow tags made out of leather.

13. Train the dog to wear tags.

14. Tags should be bought depending on your dog and his demeanor, breed, size and color.

15. Light crystal coating is advisable for tag protection.
